Growth is forecast at more than three times the EU rate in 2026. Domestic consumption, EU-funded investment, manufacturing depth and a highly employed workforce support the entry case.
Investor briefing · updated 10 August 2026
Poland in Europe.Five cities. One practical base.
A decision-focused dossier for international owners comparing Poland with the EU and selecting the right city for a first operating presence.
Executive reading
Poland offers growth, scale and EU access—without being a friction-free market.
The tight labour market raises competition for talent. Energy inflation, demographic decline, a changing tax environment and higher public debt require realistic budgets and local execution.
Poland is not a one-city market. The correct base depends on whether the operation needs headquarters reach, technology talent, R&D, industry, ports or an entrepreneurial SME ecosystem.
01 / Poland against the EU
A faster-growth EU economy with industrial weight.
Poland versus 1.1% for the EU.
Poland versus approximately 6.0% for the EU.
EU average = 100; material convergence remains.
Of value added versus 14.7% in the EU.
Age 30–34 versus 43.9% in the EU.
Energy is the principal near-term pressure.
Forecasts are from the European Commission’s Spring 2026 forecast. Structural EU comparisons use the latest harmonised Eurostat values available in its Poland-in-the-EU release; reference years differ by indicator.
02 / Investor interpretation
What the numbers mean for a market entrant.
Demand
A large domestic market and real-income growth can support a Polish revenue case, not only a lower-cost delivery centre.
Investment cycle
2026 benefits from high absorption of EU funds, infrastructure expenditure and defence-related demand. The impulse is expected to ease in 2027.
Labour
Low unemployment is evidence of resilience, but also means recruitment, retention and wage planning must be city- and skill-specific.
Risk
Model energy, financing, compliance and tax costs conservatively. Public debt is forecast to rise from 59.7% of GDP in 2025 to 68.3% in 2027.
03 / Five principal business-city markets
Choose by operating model, not by city size alone.
Warsaw
Regional headquarters, regulated sectors, professional services, capital access and the deepest executive market.
Poland’s largest and most internationally connected corporate market. Usually the broadest talent pool—and the highest occupancy and salary cost base of the five.
Kraków
IT, data, finance operations, R&D, life sciences and complex international service centres.
A mature university-led talent ecosystem. The 2025 ABSL report counted nearly 108,000 people in 312 business-service centres.
Wrocław
Engineering, electronics, software, automotive, batteries, knowledge processes and German-facing operations.
The city’s investment agency reports more than 260 supported projects and 130,000 jobs across Lower Silesia over two decades.
Poznań
Owner-led companies, manufacturing, food, logistics, e-commerce, trade, B2B services and a practical first Polish base.
A balanced business city with a strong SME culture, international investors, a major trade-fair platform and direct road and rail links on the Berlin–Warsaw axis.
Tri-City
Ports, offshore and renewable energy, maritime services, semiconductors, mobility, IT and Nordic-facing operations.
Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot form a 1.6 million-resident metropolitan market with direct seaport, airport and A1 corridor access.
“Five principal markets” is a Link2Incube investor screen, not an official administrative ranking. Tri-City is treated as one functional business market.
04 / Poznań focus
An entrepreneurial city built to operate.
Poznań is less dependent on a single corporate sector than some peers. Its case is the combination of SME density, established Polish companies, foreign manufacturing, modern services, logistics and a deeply commercial city culture.
Owner-led economy
The city’s economic base has long been dominated by micro and small enterprises. That creates a practical supplier, adviser and decision-maker ecosystem for founders entering Poland.
Industry + services
Automotive, food, chemicals, consumer goods, logistics, IT and business services coexist—useful for companies that need both production links and professional support.
Berlin–Warsaw axis
The A2 motorway and east–west rail corridor support distribution into Germany and central Poland. Poznań also connects to an international airport and national logistics networks.
Commercial platform
Poznań International Fair gives the city a durable B2B, exhibition and relationship-building role uncommon for a city of its scale.
Talent pipeline
Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań University of Technology and Poznań University of Economics and Business anchor a broad graduate and research base.
Accessible execution
In 2025, Poznań ranked first among Polish business-service locations for cooperation with its local investor-support office for the second consecutive year.
Poznań is particularly strong as a first Polish operating base for an owner who values access, cost discipline, industrial and logistics connections, and direct local relationships more than capital-city status.
